Dressage World Cup – Paris

Dressage & Show Jumping World Cup – Paris

April 7 – April 16, 2018

REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED

April, what a great time to be in Paris!  With the World Equestrian Games being held in the U.S. in 2018, here’s a chance to take a European trip and enjoy Paris for the Dressage & Show Jumping World Cup.

Our hotel is the Mercure Paris Bercy, which we selected for its convenience to the Accor Arena, venue for the 2018 Dressage World Cup in Paris.  The Arena is as close as a walk across the Seine.  We have included both the Dressage & Show Jumping season tickets in our program.

Our competition schedule is based on the 2017 program as the 2018 schedule is not yet available. We will, of course adjust our program should the schedule be different.  We very much hope that you can join us.

Saturday, April 7 – Departure Day for our American & Canadian Friends

Usual departure day today, unless you are spending time in Europe prior to our program.

Sunday, April 8 – Welcome to Paris

Springtime in Paris, the gardens, the boats on the Seine, the flowers covering the slopes of the Accor Arena should all make for a wonderful welcome. You can get to our hotel by the Roissy Bus to the Opera then taxi (suggested), by taxi directly or by metro (it’s adjacent to the Quai de la Gare Metro stop).

The afternoon is free to explore.  This evening, gather for cocktails and dinner, nearby.

Monday, April 9 – The Chateau Chantilly

Breakfast buffet is included each day of our stay.

A lovely day today as we travel to Chantilly to visit the Chateau Chantilly, the former home of the Duke of Aumale.  Here you will find the most extraordinary stables, dating from 1721 and magnificent 19th-c, chateau.  The stables include The Living Museum of the Horse. The Chateau contains a collection of paintings, sculpture and furniture.  It is all in a beautiful setting, as you would expect, surrounded by lakes.

On our return to Paris, you will find a Metro stop very near our hotel should you wish to explore the Bastille, the Opera or other areas of Paris during your stay.

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 – A Day Spent Enjoying Paris

As we are, for all practical purposes, on the river, we will make use of the Seine River shuttle hop on/hop off cruise, allowing you to enjoy a river cruise, getting off at any of nine departure points to enjoy various Paris sights.

Wednesday, 11 April – Dressage World Cup Warm-up Day

The 2018 Dressage World Cup begins with warm-ups this afternoon.  We will advise actual schedule when it becomes available.  As you will have time each day to explore, I suggest a five-day Metro pass which will take care of your Paris visits through Sunday.

You will find the Accor Arena just across the Seine from our hotel, perhaps a ten-minute walk, with lovely views. In between competitions, you will find numerous restaurants in the area, for lunch or dinner.

Thursday, 12 April – Dressage World Cup Gran Prix and Show Jumping Speed Class

The morning will be free, perhaps for a visit to one of the sights of Paris.  Metro from our hotel and return directly to the Accor Arena.

This afternoon, we expect the World Cup Dressage Grand Prix and in the evening, the Show Jumping Speed class.

Friday, April 13 – Dressage Showcase and Show Jumping Gran Prix Final

Morning is free.  We expect a mid-afternoon start for the Dressage Showcase, so you will have time to perhaps visit one of the many museums.

This evening is the World Cup Show Jumping Grand Prix Final II.

Saturday, April 14 – Dressage Freestyle & International Gran Prix Jumping

We expect a late start today, perhaps mid-afternoon, allowing time visiting.

This afternoon there will be the Dressage World Cup GP Final Freestyle determining the FEI World Cup winner.  This evening, International Grand Prix Jumping.  It should be a very exciting day.

Sunday, April 15 – FEI World Cup Jumping Final

Today is the Grand Prix Jumping Final III, for the FEI World Cup, beginning mid-afternoon.

This evening I am planning a special dinner.  Please plan on joining us.

Monday, April 16 – Departures for Charles de Galle Airport

For your convenience, we are planning a coach transfer to CDG for your departing flights.
