World Cup 2021 – Dressage and Show Jumping

World Cup 2021 – Dressage and Show Jumping
Gothenburg, Sweden

March 26 – April 5, 2021

We look forward to our first visit to Scandinavia since the Stockholm World Equestrian Games in 1990, and some new cities to see.  The World Cup in Gothenburg provides an opportunity to visit nearby Copenhagen where we spend 3 nights. After our visit in Denmark’s capital, travel by 1st class rail (with lunch in route) to Gothenburg for 6 nights, arriving Tuesday, for the Dressage & Show Jumping World Cup. 2021 happens to be the 400th anniversary of the founding of Gothenburg.  It is a beautiful city with stately buildings, museums and parks.  The Scandinavium has been a frequent venue for the World Cup over the years.

We are planning on a hotel within walking distance to the Scandinavium. You can expect temperatures in the 40’s for the most part, 30’s in the evening – not bad for those in our Northern climes, we “Southern” dwellers will dress accordingly.  I have anticipated the cost for 2o21, based on 2020 figures.

Friday, March 26:  Depart North America for Copenhagen

A number of carriers have direct or connecting flights to Copenhagen.  Depart today and we’ll look forward to seeing you in the morning.

Saturday, March 27: Welcome to the Danish Capital

On arrival you will find taxis will get you to the Hotel Skt Annae in about 20 minutes.  Our hotel is nicely located, quite near the Royal Palace and the New Harbor (17th-c.!) and on a quiet street. Settle in and this evening join us for cocktails and dinner.

Sunday, March 28: Explore Copenhagen Walking Tour

Join our guide for a walking tour this morning viewing the important sites and sights. This afternoon is free to continue your visits as you wish.

Monday, March 29: Castles and Palaces

Today we travel outside Copenhagen to visit Kronburg Castle, the setting for Hamlet, set on an island with views of Sweden.  Visit Frederiksborg Palace, the largest Renaissance palace in the Nordic region, once home to Danish kings, now a museum of Danish National History. Later view the lovely cathedral at Roskilde and visit the Viking Ship Museum.
